In India, Aadhaar is a 12‑digit unique identity number given by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) to residents. It’s used as proof of identity and address. For newborn babies, a special version called Baal Aadhaar (child Aadhaar) is already available. It includes the child’s name, photograph, date of birth, gender, and is linked to one parent’s Aadhaar number. But it does not require biometric data (fingerprints or iris scans) for that age group.
