ATLANTA — A Halloween email from Atlanta Public Schools is sparking outrage among teachers after the district announced it will no longer provide bonuses many educators were expecting ahead of the holidays.
The email, sent at 5:26 p.m. on Friday, informed staff that APS is ending, “hiring, high poverty, high-needs, and turnaround stipends that were previously in place following board approval.” Credit: PROVIDED
In a statement included in the message, the district said the change is part of a long-term plan to “build more sustainable compensation strategies — emphasizing higher base pay, long-term benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.”
