Ninth-seeded Shawnee defeated eighth-seeded Toms River East 5-0 behind a hat trick by Ava Agosto in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey, Group 3 playoffs in Toms River.

Shawnee led 2-0 at halftime following a scoreless first quarter, before adding two goals in the third quarter and one more in the fourth quarter. Shawnee outshot Toms River East 21-2.

Isabella Bouchard added a goal and Benna Clark recorded two saves in the shutout.

Isabella Gullace finished with 13 saves for Toms River East (11-9).

Shawnee (9-9-1) will visit top-seeded Clearview, No. 5 in the NJ.com Top 20, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at a time to be announced.
