LODI, Calif. —

A former realtor was found guilty of murdering another man in Lodi more than two years ago, according to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.

On Oct. 3, 2023, Scott Sherman, now 40, shot and killed 53-year-old Felix Makinano outside a bar on South School Street near West Pine Street.

The district attorney's office said that during the trial, it was revealed that Sherman had been drinking and consuming psilocybin, which is more commonly known as "magic mushrooms," at his apartment before he encountered Makinano outside.

Officials said witnesses recounted that Sherman became paranoid and ultimately shot Makinano twice in the back as the other man tried to run away.
