Eighth-seeded Middletown North used a big first half to beat ninth-seeded Colts Neck 6-1 in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Group 3 Tournament in Middletown.

Alexandra Goins led the way for Middletown North with two goals and two assists.

Ireland McCauley, Payton Smith, Johanna Case and Livy Williamson all found the back of the cage for Middletown North (12-10).

Middletown has won seven games in a row.

Goalie Emily Montalto-Zadroga had eight saves for Middletown, while June Reichenbecher stopped 11 shots for Colts Neck (7-12).

Middletown North will play top-seeded North Hunterdon, No. 16 in the NJ.com Top 20, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
