English actor Jonathan Bailey, who has starred in the “Wicked” film and also the hit Netflix series “Bridgerton,” has been crowned People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive " for 2025.
The news was announced Monday night on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
“It’s an honor of a lifetime,” Bailey said, according to Variety . “And I want to say, Jimmy, thank you so much for turning it down so I could be here.”
This is the 40th anniversary of People’s annual “Sexiest Man Alive.” Actor Mel Gibson was the first person to win the award in 1985. Previous title holders include Richard Gere, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Adam Levine and David Beckham.
CNN reports Bailey, 37, likely is the first openly gay male to win the award. He will star in the upcoming “Wicked” sequel, “Wicked: For Good,” a
