A 15-year-old girl, who was 30 weeks pregnant, is listed in critical yet stable condition, recovering in the hospital after she was shot in the chest over the weekend.
Nashville Police said the teen was shot before noon Nov. 2. The baby was safely delivered at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Police said the shooting happened during what the girl's 17-year-old boyfriend described as a struggle over his gun. In Tennessee, a person must be 18 before they can legally own a gun.
The girl was in her North Dupont Avenue apartment bedroom with her boyfriend when the shooting happened. Her boyfriend told police she got upset when another girl messaged him, police said in a news release.
