Christ Episcopal middle hitter Liza Richards knew she was close to 1,000 career kills.

She just didn’t know how close as the senior eclipsed the milestone during a 4-set win over Division I Denham Springs on Oct. 23.

“I didn’t know it was that close,” Richards said. “It was a very special moment for me because we’ve worked so hard since Day 1 to get where we are now. It was a very emotional moment because it showed what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.”

Christ Episcopal fourth-year coach Nicole Burdett said Richards’ work ethic sets her apart.
