It’s official. What was once renowned as the San Joaquins, an Amtrak train traveling between Sacramento, San Francisco, and Bakersfield, will no longer be known by this name.
Amtrak recently published a press release in which the San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA) announced a complete rebranding of this train, which will now be known as the Gold Runner.
News about the renaming of this route was announced in April , yet the rebranding became official only on November 3. So, why did the SJJPA decide to change the San Joaquins’ name, how is this better compared to the previous one, and what will change for passengers?
