Franklin High School siblings collect over 2,800 pounds of food for local families

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - Franklin High School freshman Cash Claxton and his 6th grade sister Cora collected more than 2,800 pounds of food and supplies for families facing food insecurity through a neighborhood drive that will feed roughly 38 families.

The siblings distributed more than 300 paper bags tied with white ribbon to doorknobs throughout their neighborhood, each containing a note explaining their effort to help GraceWorks Ministries.

“I thought about people who don’t know where their next meal is coming from, and I felt like a sympathy for them, and I wanted to help out,” Cash Claxton said.

The Claxtons said they were inspired by a similar community effort they witnessed when they lived in Kentucky, where neighbors pooled resources for families in need.
