Former United States Vice President Dick Cheney has died aged 84.

The passing of the US politician, who was VP to President George W Bush from 2001-09, was announced in a statement released by his family on Tuesday.

Having pushed the boundaries of his office to lead the Bush administration’s “war on terror” and misdirected war in Iraq, Cheney was a divisive figure in US politics.
