The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) says it will "operate without disruption" while the Conservative government mulls what it calls a "centralized" approach to delivering conservation measures across the province.
"The LRCA will continue to work towards our mission of leading the conservation and protection of the Lakehead watershed," the agency said in a statement on Monday.
On Friday, the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks said it plans to create a new organization — the Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency — to ensure that new home and infrastructure projects are built faster.
Currently, Ontario's 36 conservation agencies, including the LRCA, can review proposed developments to make sure they don't negatively impact local watersheds or pose a risk for flo
