New Delhi: Maharashtra will conduct elections for 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats on Decmeber 2. Results will be declared on December 10, with counting scheduled for December 3.
The polls will elect 6,859 members and 288 council presidents across the participating local bodies. A total of 1.7 crore voters are eligible to vote and 13,335 polling stations will be set up statewide. The elections will be conducted using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and will be based on electoral rolls updated as of October 31.
Of the state’s 147 nagar panchayats, only 42 will go to polls in this phase as the terms of the remaining bodies are yet to expire. Poll dates for 29 municipal corporations, 32 zilla parishads and 336 panchayat samitis, where elections are also pending have not bee
