The rest of the Ontario Hockey League can breathe easy.

London Knights star Sam Dickinson is staying in San Jose for the near future. The 19-year-old defenceman played in his 10th NHL game Sunday against Detroit and that burns one of the three years on his entry-level contract.

Sharks GM Mike Grier informed Dickinson he would be sticking around and the rookie blue-liner responded with his first career goal late in the third period of what turned into a 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings.

“We’re all really happy for Sam,” London associate GM Rob Simpson said. “He has done so much for our organization and played so well for us.
