Delhi was ranked as the sixth most polluted city in India in October 2025, trailing behind nearby areas of Ghaziabad and Noida, as revealed in a recent study by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA).

The study, based on continuous ambient air quality monitoring data, highlighted a worrying degradation in air quality across the country, with the Indo-Gangetic Plain, particularly the National Capital Region (NCR), experiencing the sharpest declines.

Dharuhera, Haryana emerged as the most polluted city during October, recording an alarming average PM2.5 concentration of 123 g/m, significantly breaching the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) on 77% of the days.
