Mangaluru, Nov 4: A Mangaluru resident has reportedly been defrauded of Rs 32.06 lac in an elaborate online trading scam, police said. A case has been registered at CEN police station.
According to the complaint, on September 9, the victim received a Facebook friend request from a woman identified as Kavya Shetty while browsing social media. The complainant accepted the request and began exchanging messages. Kavya allegedly told her that she was involved in trading work in Mumbai and that it yielded significant profits, persuading the victim to participate.
“Kavya sent me a link via WhatsApp, asking me to join a trading application. When I opened it, I was required to fill in my personal details including my name and email ID,” the complainant state
