Agartala, 4 th November 2025 : In a major boost to medical education in Tripura, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved an additional 50 MBBS seats for Tripura Medical College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Agartala. With this expansion, the college’s intake rises from 100 to 150, pushing the total number of MBBS seats across the state to 450.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today hailed the development as a “remarkable milestone” in Tripura’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and educational capacity.
