NEDERLAND, Texas — An 17-year-old Port Arthur man died and two passengers were injured Tuesday morning when his vehicle lost control while changing lanes and overturned on U.S. Highway 69 north near Spurlock Road, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A 2005 Toyota Corolla was traveling north at approximately 7:10 a.m., reportedly at a high rate of speed, when the driver lost control while changing lanes, according to a DPS news release. The car entered the ditch and overturned.
Jefferson County Precinct 7 Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett pronounced the driver dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
The driver's name will not be released until his immediate family has been notified.
Two passengers were taken by ambulance to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont
