At least four people were killed and several others injured after a passenger train collided with a goods train near Bilaspur railway station on Tuesday evening, officials said.
The accident occurred around 4 p.m. when a MEMU passenger train travelling from Gevra (in Korba district) to Bilaspur rammed into a stationary goods train between Gatora and Bilaspur stations.
Bilaspur Collector Sanjay Agrawal confirmed four deaths and said several passengers were injured. “The exact number of injured persons is being verified as rescue teams are still working to pull out those trapped under the coaches. At least one person is in critical condition,” he said.
