PORT ANGELES — Voters in Clallam County have until 8 p.m. today to submit ballots for the general election, which includes races for city council, school board, hospital district, port commission and fire district seats, along with three countywide ballot measures.
Two major proposals are on the ballot. Charter Amendment No. 1 would remove the requirement that the prosecuting attorney serve as ex-officio coroner. If passed, the Board of County Commissioners would assume the responsibility and hire personnel for those duties.
Proposition No. 1 asks voters to approve a levy lid lift to support essential public services. If approved, the property tax rate in 2026 would increase to 95 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, up from the current rate of about 76 cents.
