Samantha Ingram was officially sworn in as one of the newest members of the Mobile City Council on Monday despite a pending lawsuit questioning the legality of her candidacy to hold onto the seat.
Ingram, after a ceremony in which she delivered a speech about her vision as a council member, said she’s unconcerned about the lawsuit or a ruling that could determine the fate of her tenure on the council.
“The citizens of District 2 spoke and they spoke loudly,” Ingram said, referring to her victory over former Councilman William Carroll and challenger Reggie Hill during the Aug. 26 municipal election. “I won the seat. I’m ready to do the work. It starts today. I’m focused on the people of District 2. I’m not focused on the past.”
