SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Tuesday's election will feature municipal races that may reveal the political leanings of some traditionally conservative Atlanta suburbs, including Sandy Springs in north Fulton County.
The race for Sandy Springs mayor is technically a nonpartisan contest, but it has a strong partisan history.
Before he became mayor, Rusty Paul had served as the state Republican Party chairman. The position of mayor is nonpartisan, and Paul is seeking his fourth term on Tuesday.
"I think people are looking at, what are the results? What kind of community do we have? Is it a great place to live? Is it a great place to work? Is there a great quality of life?" Paul said, hoping his city's voters would answer with a resounding yes.
