Vernon Kay has opened up about the emotional impact of his ultramarathon for charity, admitting that the experience left him profoundly moved and forever changed.

The broadcaster, 51, raised more than £5m for Children in Need in 2023 after running from Leicester to Bolton , a distance of 116 miles, over four days.

But while the physical effort was significant, it was the human stories Vernon encountered along the way that left the deepest impression.

Vernon, who will be on duty presenting the appeal show for Children in Need on BBC One on November 14 alongside Paddy McGuinness, told Radio Times: “There are some great people out there.
