MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU) - A motorcyclist is dead after a crash late Monday afternoon in Michigan City.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of E. William Street and Pine Street.
According to police, 34-year-old Brandon Summerlin of Michigan City was heading south on Pine on his motorcycle when another vehicle attempted to turn onto Pine from William in front of him.
Investigators say Summerlin hit his brakes, which caused him to fall off the motorcycle and land on the pavement. According to police, he was not hit by the other vehicle.
Summerlin, who was reportedly not wearing a helmet or other protective gear at the time of the crash, was flown to the hospital, where he later died.
Police say the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital for a chemical test,
