SCHENECTADY — Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy is “inclined” to veto that slashed McCarthy’s proposed property tax increase and got within the state’s tax cap.
McCarthy’s original $120.4 million budget proposal included a 17% property tax increase and would pierce the state tax cap, with the amended $119.9 million council budget reducing the property tax increase to 1.8% and keeping the city within the tax by utilizing an additional $1.9 million in city balance and raising revenue projects for foreclosed home sales in the city.
