WhatsApp has officially rolled out its long-awaited app for Apple Watch, giving users more ways to stay connected without needing their iPhone nearby. The release follows beta testing that first revealed the app to iOS testers earlier this month .

With the new app, users can now read entire message threads, reply using voice or text, send quick emoji reactions, and view clearer photos and stickers directly on their wrist. Notifications for incoming WhatsApp calls also appear on the Apple Watch, and users can see chat history without having to open their phone.

Voice messages can be recorded and sent from the watch using the built-in microphone, a first for WhatsApp on watchOS. The app maintains WhatsApp’s signature end-to-end encryption for all messages and calls.
