COLUMBIA, S.C. — Disgraced South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh, now serving a life sentence for the murders of his wife Maggie and youngest son Paul and financial crimes, has something to say about the latest commercial adaptation of his life.

"Murdaugh: Death in the Family," now streaming on Hulu, is based on Alex Murdaugh's 2023 trial after being charged with the June 7, 2021 murders of Paul and Maggie. The series stars Patricia Arquette as Maggie, Jason Clarke as Alex, and Will Harrison and Johnny Berchtold as their sons.

Murdaugh defense attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin released the following statement regarding the Hulu series on behalf of Alex Murdaugh:

Alex is deeply disappointed and disturbed by the recent Hulu streaming series about him and the entire Murdaugh family.
