HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A 51-year-old woman was killed Saturday in Hall County in what the sheriff's office called an apparent murder-suicide, which was witnessed by a 9-year-old girl at the home.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, the 9-year-old was unharmed. She was hiding in a closet upstairs when deputies arrived on scene and had called a friend on FaceTime as the shooting unfolded. That friend told her parents and they in turn called 911, the sheriff's office said.

The deputies found the 51-year-old victim at the "threshold of the residence."

The 51-year-old suspected gunman was found in the basement. The sheriff's office said he shot and killed the woman at the Flowery Branch home "then turned the gun on himself."
