Following a season in which he led San Diego FC in both goals and assists, forward Anders Dreyer has been named Major League Soccer’s 2025 Newcomer of the Year.
The award was announced Tuesday morning by MLS. Dreyer received 74.11% of the overall vote, which is split among media, MLS players and clubs. Nearly 82% of club voters picked Dreyer, showing just how impactful they believe he has been since coming to SDFC for its inaugural season.
Dreyer led SDFC with 19 goals and 19 assists; his 38 total goal contributions tied for the third-most in MLS history and are tied for the most ever by a first-year player.
Dreyer earned MLS All-Star honors and was named the league’s player for the month for both June and August.
