WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Waterbury Public Schools said Tuesday they partnered with city organizations for a district-wide food drive after the recent pause on SNAP benefits.
Public school officials said the school will be collecting nonperishable food from families and staff members willing to donate.
People can consider donating rice, pasta, cereal, granola, protein bars, canned fruit, beans, and chili.
The items will be collected and distributed to families on Fridays so students can have food over the weekend. Distribution will begin on Friday, Nov. 7, according to officials.
Families can pick the food up at the school or have it sent home with the student.
Waterbury officials said if your family is affected by the SNAP benefit changes, fill out the form.
