KINGSTON, N.Y. — Haramabee Kingston is hosting a book drive to support the creation of a new community library room at its African Cultural Center, located at 231 Clinton Ave.
Harambee said it is seeking new and used children’s books on art, African-American culture, Black history, youth development, activism, health and wellness, leadership, local history, music and poetry, with an emphasis on Black, Indigenous and people of color.
“As a vibrant hub of learning, the Esther Taylor Evans Library Room will nurture a love of reading, strengthen comprehension and writing skills, spark creativity while shining the light on Esther’s legacy,” Harambee said in a news release.
Esther Taylor-Evans, a founding member of Harambee, also served as President of the Womens’ Club of Rosendale, Marketing
