ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A local woman with close ties to ex-St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones’ family pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal wire fraud charges for improperly taking more than $1.7 million in pandemic relief funds from the US Government.
Cory Elliott is a St. Louis-based contractor whose companies have received numerous city contracts and grants over the last several years.
On Tuesday, federal prosecutors charged her with two counts of wire fraud related to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a forgivable loan created to bolster businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
