ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A local woman with close ties to ex-St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones’ family pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal wire fraud charges for improperly taking more than $1.7 million in pandemic relief funds from the US Government.

Cory Elliott is a St. Louis-based contractor whose companies have received numerous city contracts and grants over the last several years.

On Tuesday, federal prosecutors charged her with two counts of wire fraud related to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a forgivable loan created to bolster businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eliott has been very close to the family of former St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones. In a Facebook post from March 2024, Virvus Jones, Mayor Jones’ father, wrote, “Meeting Cory is one of the best things
