TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun has signed a proclamation naming the week of Veterans Day, November 11, as Forget-Me-Not week, in honor of veterans who have served our nation.

"During Forget-Me-Not Week, we remember the immense price of war and honor those who have served and sacrificed for our freedoms," said Mayor Sakbun in a social media post.

According to the Disabled American Veterans, the forget-me-not flower serves as a "symbol that honors and remembers a veteran’s sacrifice, ensuring that they’re not forgotten."

"May the forget-me-not flower remind us always to keep our veterans and their families in our hearts and to and continue to support them in our community," said Mayor Sakbun, a veteran himself.
