Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Famer and four-time Grammy winner Delbert McClinton turns 85 on Tuesday. Born in Lubbock and raised in Fort Worth from age 11 on, the Americana Music pioneer backed Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley and more at desegregated roadhouses on the outskirts of Fort Worth; opened for Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and other Rock and Roll pioneers; and famously gave John Lennon harmonica-playing tips in 1962 ALL before gaining the reputation as a must-see live performer over his six decade career.
Let’s celebrate WITH SOME DELBERT!
