Nagpur, Nov 4 (UNI) A major counterfeit liquor racket was busted in Nagpur, leading to the arrest of seven persons and the seizure of 135 litres of fake foreign liquor, police said today. Acting on a tip-off, Kalmana police intercepted a Bolero pickup near Chikhli Chowk and recovered six boxes of “Royal Stag” bottles without valid transport documents.
The driver, Mahendra Bambal and six others were later arrested for allegedly refilling genuine liquor bottles with a mixture of water and alcohol and selling them under branded names. The accused identified as Mahendra Bambal, Nikhil Natkar, Narayan Motharkar, Ibrahim Pathan, Roshan Shahu, Gajendra Shahu and Maniram Paswan, operated from various areas in Nagpur, police said.
