While the Tasmania JackJumpers are the state's sole professional basketball team playing at the moment, "a lot of work" is happening with the impending WNBL outfit.

Tasmania was announced as the league's ninth licence-holder in August, and with it, a new moniker and logo were to be decided.

They have been selected and will be publicly unveiled on December 2 before the team's debut in the competition next season.

"We ran a public campaign on suggestions for the name, and we've landed with a name that was suggested in that campaign. Based on that, we've been working behind the scenes," Tasmania JackJumpers chief executive Christine Finnegan said.
