A woman has died after a fire destroyed an apartment building in Camden County over the weekend, according to the Gloucester Township Police Department.

The fire broke out at the Autumn Ridge Apartment Complex located on the 1500 block of Little Gloucester Road in Gloucester Township around 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, police said.

When first responders arrived at the scene, police reported they found heavy smoke in the "C" building of the complex. Officers and firefighters worked together to help evacuate the building.

While battling the blaze, one firefighter suffered minor burns, police said. Five residents were also hurt and have been listed in stable condition.
