GOTHENBURG, Neb. (KNOP) - A Gothenburg woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Dawson County early Saturday morning.

Lynsy R. Herndon, 36, was found dead inside a 2008 silver Mazda that had gone into the north ditch on Highway 30, according to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred seven miles east of Gothenburg at 12:43 a.m. on Nov. 1, deputies said.

The sheriff’s office said a preliminary investigation based on evidence located at the scene shows that seat belts were not in use and alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Nebraska State Patrol, Dawson County Attorney’s Office, and Miller Towing.
