The former boyfriend of 11-year-old Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres-Garcia 's mother made a brief court appearance in New Britain on Tuesday to face additional charges that were filed last month in connection with the little girl's death.

Jonatan Nanita is the former boyfriend of Mimi's mother, Karla Garcia and he is accused of disposing the bin containing the child’s remains outside a vacant New Britain home last month.

The matter has been transferred to court in Torrington to consolidate with the prior charges that were filed and Nanita's attorney asked the judge that he remain in protective custody.

Police found the Mimi's body in a tote outside at 80 Clark St. in New Britain on Oct. 8.

She was severely malnourished
