Simone Hildebrand-Thiessen and her two young kids were sorting through a treasure trove of Halloween goodies when the Winnipeg mom realized they'd picked up more than candy.

Although she initially thought it was a toy, Hildebrand-Thiessen says a gold wedding band slipped into her kids bags as they trick-or-treated in North Kildonan on Friday night.

"It looked like it belonged to a man and it looked old. It looked like it had been well-used and loved," she told guest host Marjorie Dowhos in an interview Tuesday on CBC Manitoba's .

"This is precious to somebody."

To try to find the ring's owner, Hildebrand-Thiessen posted about it on a local Facebook group.
