In a shocking case of internal fraud, gold ornaments worth over Rs 70 lakh have been looted from the State Bank of India (SBI) Balugaon branch in Khordha district. The prime accused is none other than the bank’s own cash-in-charge, identified as Jitendra Kumar Biswal, who has been absconding since August this year.
According to reports, Jitendra allegedly stole around 600 grams of pledged gold ornaments along with Rs 7 lakh in cash. The incident reportedly took place over several months, beginning in August, but remained hidden from the public and even from customers whose gold had been pledged at the bank.
Shockingly, despite the branch manager having filed a complaint with the police, no breakthrough has been made so far, and the accused remains untraceable.
