The YMCA has moved into a new home in Windsor’s core.
The organization’s newcomers and employment services branch, previously located a couple blocks away on Victoria Avenue, now operates out of two floors inside the University of Windsor’s downtown campus building at 300 Ouellette Ave.
“I think this is a really exciting thing for the downtown core,” Andy Sullivan, YMCA vice-president of asset management, said during a grand opening event Monday.
“The visibility being here on the main strip of Ouellette, I think, provides … a little bit more awareness of what we’re doing than when we were just two blocks away on Victoria.”
Sullivan said the former location on 500 Victoria Ave., occupied by the YMCA since the 1970s, was no longer meeting the organization’s needs.
