A Hamilton man faces charges after three people were pepper-sprayed in downtown London on Halloween night, police say.

An argument between two men at a John Street business escalated about 10:40 p.m., and one pulled out a can of pepper spray and used it on the other, police said.

Two women nearby also were sprayed as other patrons tried to leave the area, police said. Both were treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

The suspect and male victim fled before officers arrived, police said. Witnesses later identified a suspect and officers arrested a man without incident.

The female victims and the suspect were not known to each other, according to police.
