Madison city commissioners voted to pursue demolition of the unused water tower at 504 NW Fourth Street during their regular meeting on Nov. 3.
The item has been in discussion for several weeks now, with the city recently seeking additional public feedback on if the tower should be maintained or destroyed. With the cost of maintenance projected to reach nearly $750,000 over the next ten years, commissioners felt demolition was the more financially responsible option. The low quote received by the city for removal of the tank and structure was $138,000, yet the timeline of the demolition is still up in the air as other details are addressed. ×
