The Colts have been hammered by injuries at the cornerback position, losing third-round pick Justin Walley for the season to a torn ACL and cutting loose JuJu Brents and Samuel Womack prior to the season. Jaylon Jones, a starter last season, has battled hamstring injuries. They signed Xavien Howard but he struggled and retired.

The Colts signed former 49ers star Charvarius Ward to a three-year, $54 million deal in free agency and then traded for Mekhi Blackmon from the Vikings after the end of training camp. But Ward suffered a second concussion prior to the Arizona game and was put on injured reserve. Slot corner Kenny Moore also missed several games due to an Achilles injury but has returned.
