MINNEAPOLIS — A quick half-hour media meet-and-greet Tuesday made several things clear about new Twins manager Derek Shelton.

He has a sneaky sense of humor.

He is honest, forthcoming, and a man who thinks about things.

But first and foremost - he loves the heck out of baseball.

Shelton returns to the town and the franchise where he laid the foundation for managing in the big leagues as a bench coach for then-manager Paul Molitor, and then for his close friend and outgoing skipper Rocco Baldelli. He recalled Molitor's thoroughness, and the fear of being unprepared when called upon.
