PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The man charged with animal cruelty after a disturbing video appeared to show him abusing a corgi has been released from custody ahead of his next court appearance.
Luke McNeley, 31, was charged on Oct. 21 after the Pierce County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a disturbing video showing a man violently kneeing a dog and punching its head. The footage was recorded by a neighbor's Ring doorbell camera.
The dog — a corgi named Doc — is shown being picked up and struck with a knee. The video includes the dog yelping in pain twice. A full veterinary evaluation found no major injuries, though Doc was given pain medication. The dog is now being cared for at the Humane Society.
McNeley is the ex-boyfriend of the dog's owner, according to court documents.
