Trains heading north of Stoke-on-Trent have been cancelled after bomb units were called to a 'suspicious' incident. Police, fire crews and paramedics are in attendance on Greek Street in Stockport this evening, with a 200m cordon currently in place while emergency crews work at the scene.
The incident is focussed around a footbridge at Stockport railway station with all trains currently unable to serve the station. It is understood emergency crews were called to reports of a 'suspicious' suitcase.
The incident has led to major disruption on the West Coast Mainline. One StokeonTrentLive reader said: "My partner is currently on the train from Wolverhampton to Stoke-on-Trent and has just been informed on the train that an explosive has been found on the tracks. She was told over the tannoy.
