The Mummy Returns , indeed. Though there have been multiple new attempts at bringing back the classic Universal Monster since its mega-hit 1999 reboot starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, the company has finally just gone and done the smart thing. It’s bringing Fraser and Weisz back for another monster adventure.

Fraser and Weisz are in talks to return to the franchise in a new film directed by Radio Silence, aka Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and written by David Coggeshall, according to The Hollywood Reporter . The pair, both Oscar winners in the years since, starred in two hit Mummy movies, 1999’s The Mummy and 2001’s The Mummy Returns , before Weisz left the franchise.
