Atlanta voters are headed to the polls on Tuesday for city elections that include offices such as mayor and city council president, as well as all 15 city council seats.
The highest-profile race is Mayor Andre Dickens' re-election bid. Mayor Dickens has three challengers on the ballot, and the vote will serve as a temperature check on his standing with voters after emerging as something of a surprise winner four years ago.
The mayor has emphasized his record on public safety, with more officer hires and declining crime rates under his watch, and affordability, in particular with housing .
Unlike four years ago, which had more than a dozen candidates on the ballot and included experienced city councilors, the council president at the time and even another former mayor on the ballot
